Teaching and facilitating group processes

I have been teaching since 2014. My courses are not very big, but they are very varied in format. Over the past 8 years I have had the chance to take part in things like these:

— training guardianship officers in mediation skills (2014)
— teaching 3 courses of lectures and seminars in the MSUPE master’s program “Mediation in the Social Sphere”, 2015–2018
— supervising master’s theses in the MSUPE master’s program “Mediation in the Social Sphere”
— one-day workshops, in person and online, for students in long-term training as counseling psychologists in Narrative Practice and Community Work (Center for Narrative Psychology and Practice and the Narrative Workshop); topics: “Embodiment in the work of a narrative counselor”; “Setting in the work of a narrative counselor”
— designing and teaching an experimental course on interviewing techniques for journalism students at RANEPA (2020)
— designing and teaching the practicum course “Mediation Skills” for bachelor’s students at HSE University (2021).

In addition, I have worked as a group facilitator in projects such as:

— Facilitator of psychological support groups for women experiencing involuntary childlessness, “You Are Not Alone” (2014 – present)
— Communication and mediation trainings for staff of SUVU (closed-type special educational institutions) and the young people in their care (2015–2016)
— Debriefings for communities affected by devastating events (LGBTQ+)
Short-term and long-term work
How I teach
- interactively
- final-year students rated me highest on the “maintains contact with the audience” scale
- I like to emphasize using the knowledge students already have, as well as developing critical thinking and proactivity
- Even in lectures I try to add little “research” pieces
- I have more experience with seminars, trainings and other interactive formats than with traditional lecturing
- I am good at designing assessments and practical assignments, and then giving supportive feedback on them
